A tour of both North and South Islands by sea from Sydney, Australia
Our first sight of land were the beautiful Fjord areas of Milford and Doubtful Sounds - once judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey,
Leaving the fjords we sailed on to Dunedin - The name comes from Dùn Èideann, the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh and the City offices and Railway station both show influences of Scottish architecture and building construction although Cadbury's chocolate factory is much more modern !
Dunedin is also the end of the line for the Taieri Gorge Railway.which takes you on a journey over 75 km through the rugged and spectacular Taieri River Gorge, across wrought iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than 100 years ago.
